Course Description and Units of Study
Students (using reading, writing, listening, speaking, and hands-on activities) will do the following:
1. Develop an understanding and appreciation of how artwork is made and why.
2. Create work in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional forms.

These supplies are only recommendations; please understand that we will provide everything for our students to experience success at Nickels.
GRADING SCALE:
A = 93-100%
A-=90-92%
B+=87-89%
B=83-86%
B-=80-82%
C+=77-79%
C=73-76%
C-=70-72%
D+=67-69%
D=63-66%
F=62% and under
Most projects are worth 50 points. Quiz/Tests & Writings are usually worth 10 to 50 points. Work turned in late results in a reduction of points. Work that is not handed in will result in a zero. Citizenship is graded based on the classroom expectations listed below. Everyone starts with 100 points in each category and if necessary points are reduced. If students are behind or missing work, we will work together to arrange a plan for having work completed in a timely manner.
Students will start out the semester with 100 points in each category:
Attitude and Cooperation
Students are expected to demonstrate appropriate attitude and cooperation in class. 5 points will be deducted from their total attitude and cooperation grade each class time the student does not demonstrate appropriate attitude and cooperation.
Responsibility
Students are required to bring materials (computer, pencil, etc.) to each class time. Students are also expected to be on time to each class. If a student does not bring their materials, 5 points will be deducted from their total responsibility score. If a student shows up late to class without a late pass, 5 points will be deducted from their total responsibility score.
Participation and Effort
The students are expected to participate and demonstrate best effort each class time. If a student does not demonstrate appropriate participation and effort, 5 points will be deducted from their total participation and effort score.
