5th Graders are working with clay. With the clay we use it is important to score, slip, blend, and smooth to make sure it stays together and creates a permanent bond. The shake test is performed to make sure they were thorough with these steps.

6th grader, Kyle B had his drawing selected to be in the 2014 Michigan Art Education Association Middle School Top 100 Art Exhibition! This is quite an honor for him! His work will be on display at the Mary Anne Beckwith Gallery at Central Michigan University from April 19th-April 26th.
5th graders just finished with their watercolor fish paintings. They learned how to use many different painting techniques during this lesson.

We started out collecting paper tubes of all sizes. Next groups painted the tubes with bright and vibrant colors. After the tubes were dry, students began drawing on top of the painted tubes and created patterns and visual textures using black permanent markers. After we have all of the tubes complete we will assemble the work into a large mural that will hang on the wall in the music room! |
